A specialist in serious crime and fraud, both prosecuting and defending; frequently led and often instructed as a leading junior. His practice is predominantly based in London.
In July 2014, the Attorney General appointed Bill as Junior Treasury Counsel at the Central Criminal Court.
Nominated as Crime Junior of the Year at the Chambers and Partners Bar Awards 2010.
In addition to Criminal work, Bill has a substantial Professional Discipline practice and appears regularly before Disciplinary tribunals and in Inquests.
A respected senior junior, Bill is highly sought after in high profile and heavyweight crime, typically for cases of homicide and/or organised crime. As Treasury Counsel, he prosecutes some of the Old Bailey’s most challenging and high profile murder cases, and is very experienced in dealing with complex multi-handed trials. He also has particular experience and expertise in Misconduct in Public Office cases, and is regularly instructed to defend police officers (ie in the recent News International cases).
In addition to representing police officers in the criminal courts, Bill has extensive experience of appearing for officers at Misconduct Hearings, in the Metropolitan Police and a wide range of other Police Forces. Bill also regularly represents Police Officers in Inquests and before the Police Appeals Tribunal.
