Allen & Overy Partners not referred to Attorney-General

Following the collapse of the SFO’s prosecution of Victor Dahdaleh at Southwark Crown Court, HHJ Loraine Smith invited written and oral submissions as to whether two partners at A&O, who had attended a meeting with a prosecution witness and his lawyers, which eventually resulted in the trial being adjourned, should be referred to the A-G for contempt. He ruled that he would not refer to the A-G but would ask the Solicitors Regulation Authority to consider the matter.

Alexander Cameron QC appeared for the two partners concerned.
