Gallery cleared of breaching Russian sanctions

Following a successful application to dismiss, HHJ Baumgartner dismissed the charge that Hauser & Wirth Gallery Limited had breached the prohibition on making available a luxury good to a person connected with Russia. The Judge dismissed the case on the basis that there was insufficient evidence that the individual who bought the artwork was ordinarily resident in Russia. This was the first prosecution brought under the trade sanctions under the Russia Regulations. You can read more about the case here.

Hugo Keith KC and Robert Morris represented Hauser & Wirth Gallery Limited instructed by Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and Affiliates.
