In April 2026, former PC Mark Roberts was sentenced to 27 months immediate imprisonment for causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving, after he collided with a motorbike on his way to trying to help a 5 week old baby with breathing difficulties. The Court of Appeal allowed Mr Roberts’ appeal against sentence, resulting in a suspended sentence of imprisonment and his immediate release from prison. Luke Ponte KC represented Mr Roberts.
