Three Raymond Buildings Bringing Disability to the Bar Advocacy Weekend

Over the weekend, 15 of our barristers, staff and pupils volunteered to run a criminal advocacy workshop for disabled students, the second year we have held this event.

The weekend helped students develop the skills needed to succeed in pupillage interviews and in early practice at the Bar. They took part in advocacy exercises based on a fictional criminal trial and heard talks and demonstrations from members of chambers.

We also ran Q&A sessions focused on pupillage interviews and the challenges disabled barristers face in their early years of practice.

We congratulate the students who completed the course and thank Konstantina Nouka and Julie Davis from the Bringing Disability to the Bar committee, who ran the event with us, as well as our chambers administrator Donna Garner and the Gray’s Inn Education Department for their support.

This event is part of wider initiatives chambers runs to increase diversity within the legal profession.
