The Third Alexander Cameron KC Criminal Mock Trial

Representatives from chambers, together with members of Alex Cameron’s family, were delighted to attend the final of Inner Temple’s criminal mock trial competition at the Old Bailey on 27 January 2026.

The two finalists were tasked with prosecuting and defending a sexual offence case in Court No. 6 at the Old Bailey before a panel of three.

On behalf of the panel, HHJ Simon Heptonstall announced the results at a reception in Inner Temple afterwards.

Congratulations go to the winner, Ruby Hooper, who represented the defendant, and to the runner up, Lola Olamide-Daniel, who prosecuted.

Patrick Gibbs KC presented our prizes of £1,000 to Ruby and £500 to Lola, awarded in memory of Alex Cameron, who died in 2023 aged only 59. Patrick paid tribute to his formidable advocacy skills, his success as a junior, his taking silk aged only 39, his stellar career in commercial crime and his leadership of chambers, where he is much missed.  Patrick noted that Alex would have been delighted to be associated with this competition.

We would like to acknowledge the sterling work of the Inner Temple Education Department in devising  and running the competition.  We are delighted to be associated with it and to honour Alex’s memory.
