On 23 November 2023, Mr Vasiljevas died after suffering a fatal gunshot from a police firearms officer outside his home in Dagenham. Following a month-long inquest, a jury last week concluded that he had been shot lawfully in self-defence after pointing a gun at officers. The jury made no criticism of the firearms officer.
