Child Q Misconduct Hearing Concludes

The 4 week police misconduct hearing into the strip search of child Q has concluded. The Panel rejected the IOPC’s case that the officers had discriminated against Child Q, and that the officers had been dishonest. PC W was further cleared of gross misconduct. Nonetheless, admitted failings in respect of seeking authorisation, recording the search, securing an appropriate adult and the proportionality of the search led to dismissal for PC L and a final written warning for PC W.
