Court of Appeal reduces sentence for former police officer

On 5 June 2025, the Court of Appeal (Dingemans LJ, McGowan J and HHJ St John-Stevens) held that an overall sentence of 15 months’ immediate imprisonment imposed on a former detective sergeant who was convicted at trial of two counts of voyeurism was manifestly excessive. The Court substituted it with a sentence of 12 months’ imprisonment, reducing the sentence on the second count from 9 months to 6 months to run consecutively to the sentence of six months on the first count.

Charles McCombe appeared on behalf of the Appellant at trial, sentence and appeal.
