Commander Julian Bennett Dismissed from the Metropolitan Police Service

The remitted misconduct hearing into Commander Julian Bennett concluded today.

The panel found that Commander Bennett did not have a good reason for refusing to obey a lawful order to provide a sample for a drug test. He was dismissed without notice.

Commander Bennet was the MPS gross misconduct hearing chair between 2010 and 2016 and the MPS lead for drug strategy from 2017 to 2018.

Findings were made against Commander Bennett at a hearing in 2023 but these were quashed and the case remitted for a new hearing.

Matthew Butt KC represented the appropriate authority of the MPS at the remitted hearing.
