Education Workforce Council succeeds on first statutory appeal

Kitty St Aubyn represented the Education Workforce Council of Wales in the High Court in Cardiff on 7 October.

This was the first statutory appeal brought against the regulator since it was reconstituted in 2014, replacing the General Teaching Council for Wales. The appeal was brought by a regulated further education teacher who appealed against a finding of unacceptable professional conduct and reprimand for sending an offensive email in response to a rejection for a job.

The EWC succeeded in the appeal on all grounds. The judgment can be read here.
