International aid worker registration scheme

DFID has announced consultation into Hugh Davies QC’s recommendations relating to an international aid worker passport and associated international measures.

At the London Safeguarding Summit in 2018 following multiple instances of sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment in the international aid and development sector 22 donor signatories approved consideration of an international aid worker passport. Hugh Davies QC is a member of the DFID led steering committee and was commissioned by it to conduct a legal review. That review makes a series of significant recommendations as to a registration scheme and sectoral reform that is now the subject of an international consultation.

Further information on the review can be found here.
