Charity Commission publishes statutory inquiry report into RNIB

In 2018 Hugh Davies QC was commissioned to conduct a major independent investigation and review into safeguarding management and corporate governance at RNIB in circumstances following serious safeguarding failures at RNIB’s Pears Centre, a school and residential facility for children with complex needs and visual impairment. This was part of the Charity Commission’s inquiry under section 46 of the Charities Act 2011. Pears Centre shut during the investigation causing some 180 redundancies, and the outcome has implications for future governance at RNIB and across the sector.

Full details of the findings of the Inquiry can be found here. An article published by The Guardian is available here.
