Southwark Council ordered to pay over £500,000

On 28th February 2017, the London Borough of Southwark was sentenced following guilty pleas to four fire safety offences which occured between 2006 and 2009 which were discovered after a serious fire at Lakanal House, a multi occupied tower block owned by the Council.

LBS was sentenced to a fine of £270,000 and ordered to pay costs of £300,000.

Stephen Walsh QC and Saba Naqshbandi represented the Prosecution.
