In the largest commercial trial in the London legal calendar 2012-2013, Mr Cherney claimed he was the former partner of the prominent Russian businessman, Oleg Deripaska, and entitled to a large stake in Mr Deripaska”s business. This was denied by Mr Deripaska, who alleged that Mr Cherney was a representative of Russian organised criminal groups responsible for extorting monies from him.
Rachel Barnes and Nicholas Yeo were members of Mr Deripaska’s counsel team.
