Royal Academy of Music finance chief jailed for 20 months

Neil Saunders represented Jan Whitehouse, the former financial director at the Royal Academy of Music. She is a 56 year old of previous impeccable character who pleaded guilty at Southwark Crown Court to three allegations of fraud over a 4 year period, resulting in a loss of £236,000. She has repaid all the money appropriated in March 2011, but was not arrested until December 2011. HHJ Taylor found a number of aggravating features in the case and passed a sentence of 20 months imprisonment notwithstanding the mitigaton advanced.
