She has been involved in several high profile cases in recent years including:

Grenfell Tower Inquiry – instructed by the London Fire Brigade in relation to the public inquiry examining the circumstances leading up to and surrounding the fire at Grenfell Tower on 14 June 2017.

Croydon Tram Crash inquests – instructed as junior counsel for the Office of Rail and Road at the inquests into the tram crash on 9 November 2016 which killed seven passengers and injured over 60 more.

Fishmongers’ Hall inquests – appeared on behalf of the Fishmongers’ Company at the inquests into the terror attacks at Fishmongers’ Hall and London Bridge on 29 November 2019.

She prosecutes and defends serious and complex cases and her practice spans the whole spectrum of criminal offences including murder, s18 assaults, organised crime, perverting the course of justice, fraud, rape, historic/familial sex offences, and money laundering.

Represented three police officers charged with perverting the course of justice and perjury by lying about the circumstances surrounding the death of Kingsley Burrell, a black male who died in hospital while detained under the Mental Health Act. The defendants were acquitted of all charges.

Defended a director of a company accused of an international Ponzi fraud. He was acquitted of all counts.

Bo specialises in all aspects of regulatory law and is a Specialist Regulatory Advocate in Health and Safety and Environmental Law (B panel).

Successfully represented the applicant (We are the Fair Ltd) in applications for premises licences in relation to Gala and Jam on Rye music festivals, held in Peckham Rye Park in London.

Reading Community Carnival

Successfully acted for the Thames Valley Police in the review of a premises licence for the Reading Community Carnival following stabbings and other violent incidents. The licence was revoked.

Westminster City Council v The W International

Advised a company regarding an investigation into alleged breaches of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 following the explosion of an electric water heater at the premises. The Council decided to take no further action.

Bo has considerable experience in professional regulatory/disciplinary proceedings.

She is regularly instructed by regulators and by registrants to conduct and advise on complex and serious cases before Health and Conduct and Competence Committees.

She also represents police officers facing disciplinary proceedings for gross misconduct.

In 2007/2008, she spent nine months at Kingsley Napley Solicitors where she was responsible for investigating, advising on and presenting cases nationally on behalf of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

West Midlands Police v BS

Successfully represented a police officer who was accused of gross misconduct for unnecessarily discharging his taser into a suspect’s leg after saying “You know what, fuck it”. The allegations were dismissed.

GDC v STC

Represented the General Dental Council in a case where a dentist was accused of making a large number of false claims for NHS work over a 2-year period. The dentist was struck off.

GDC v SN

Acted for the GDC in a case involving the theft of £16,000 by a dentist from his practices. He was struck off.

GDC v YS

Acted for the GDC in a case concerning the modern practice of ‘tele-dentistry’.

NMC v NB

Drafted written representations on behalf of a midwife accused of lacking competence in basic midwifery skills. The allegations included that NB had failed repeated competency assessments carried out by the Trust. The NMC decided that there was no case to answer and took no further action.

Represented a man charged with a s18 assault with intent to cause really serious harm. The case was dismissed at court.

Represented a man accused by his two stepdaughters of historically and repeatedly raping them when they were aged   between 11 and 15 years old. He was acquitted of 15 counts of rape and sexual assault.

(Aylesbury Crown Court)
Successfully defended a man accused of making indecent images of a child on his mobile telephone. The defendant had met a 15-year-old girl on the dating app, Tinder, and had encouraged her to send him indecent images and videos of herself.

(Isleworth Crown Court)
Represented a woman accused of modern slavery.

R v PC
(Portsmouth Crown Court)
Represented a defendant who was found by the court to be unfit to plead and to stand trial. At a trial of the facts, his stepdaughter gave evidence that she was sexually abused by the defendant when she was young. Mr Coleman was unanimously found by the jury not to have committed the acts alleged in the 5-count indictment.

R v D & Others
(Central Criminal Court & Court of Appeal)
Prosecuted 24 defendants for conspiracy to produce cannabis to the value of £125 million.
The prosecution was the culmination of a two year police investigation (the biggest of its kind) into an international organised criminal network, alleged to be responsible for the commercial cultivation of over £125m of cannabis in the UK. The network was alleged to have imported the requisite equipment through associated companies in China, Holland and Germany and was responsible for a high proportion of the industry up to point of arrest and the criminality includes various acts of intimidation and the use of trafficked and child labour. The materials in the case exceeded 250,000 pages of material from diverse sources and maintained in both paper and electronic format. The defendants pleaded guilty or were convicted after trial. The appeals against conviction and sentence were dismissed.

HSE v Friedlander
Acted for the HSE in the prosecution of a contractor in charge of a dangerous excavation site.

Drafted written representations on behalf of a company accused of breaching the Food Safety and Hygiene (England) Regulations 2013 with regard to a mice infestation at the premises, which resulted in a simple caution.

HSE v CR Ltd
Prosecuted a company for failing to ensure the health and safety of its employees. The company owned a number of waste processing sites. During an accident at work, one of the employees received serious injuries when he was dragged under the magnetic bar of an industrial shredding machine. The defendant was fined a total of £300,000.

West Midlands Police v BS
Successfully represented a police officer who was accused of gross misconduct for unnecessarily discharging his taser into a suspect’s leg after saying “You know what, fuck it”. The allegations were dismissed.

Represented a police officer who was well-known as ‘the Birmingham taxi cop’ and was awarded ‘Police officer of the Year’ in the 2019 Westside awards who was accused of gross misconduct for sending a photograph of his erect penis to a member of the public whilst on duty.

General Dental Council v STC
Represented the GDC in a case where a dentist was accused of making a large number of false claims for NHS work over a 2-year period. The dentist was struck off.

The Committee found that the facts proved amounted to misconduct and imposed conditions on the registrant’s practice.

General Dental Council v MB
Represented the GDC at the misconduct hearing of a dentist with over 20 years’ experience. The Registrant was struck off for his misconduct in relation to an elderly patient whom he treated between the ages of 83-91 years.

Nursing and Midwifery Council v GN
Represented the Registrant, who was accused of stealing medication from the hospital where she worked. She was given a caution.

Represented a Registrant with Asperger’s Syndrome at her misconduct hearing.

All personal data that I process is for the purposes of providing legal services, conducting conflict-checks, marketing, defending potential complaints, legal proceedings or fee disputes, keeping anti-money laundering records, training other barristers and pupils and when providing work-shadowing opportunities, and/or exercising a right to a lien. The types of data I process vary upon the nature of the legal matter in relation to which I am engaged to advise, but can include names, contact details, biographic details and ‘special category personal data’ (such as details of racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, health, sex life and criminal convictions and proceedings).

Depending upon the circumstances of the case, the legal bases upon which I process personal data are (i) the performance of a contract to which the data subject is a party or in order to take steps at the request of the data subject prior to entering into a contract, (ii) the processing is necessary to comply with legal obligations to which I am subject, or (iii) the processing is necessary for the legitimate interests set out above, except where such interests are overridden by the interests or fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subjects which require protection of personal data, in particular where the data subject is a child. Under the GDPR, data subjects whose personal data I process have the right to request from me access to, and rectification or erasure of, their personal data, the right to the restriction of processing concerning them, the right to object to processing as well as the right to data portability. In cases where there is a contract between me and the data subject, the provision of personal data is a contractual requirement and the data subject is obliged to provide the personal data in order that I can supply legal services.
