UN Al-Qaida Sanctions De-listing

On 15 April, the UN Security Council’s Al-Qaida sanctions committee decided to de-list Youcef Abdoui and lift the asset freeze, travel ban and arms embargo against him. This followed proceedings before the UN Ombudsperson including written submissions and oral proceedings.

Mr Abdoui was represented by Rachel Barnes, instructed by Gavin Sullivan (co-operating lawyer with the European Centre for Constitutional and Human Rights). To date, Ms Barnes and Mr Sullivan have successfully represented four petitioners before the UN Ombudsperson and Al-Qaida sanctions committee.
