European Metal Recycling Limited, a very substantial global company was fined £300,000 and ordered to pay over £70,000 in costs on 20 May 2013 at Southwark Crown Court for health and safety breaches. The prosecution followed an incident at a recycling site where one of the workers suffered fatal injuries having been struck and crushed by a vehicle.
