Five people were sentenced at Southwark Crown Court after making false claims for VAT repayments and Film Tax Credit. The claims stated that the movie had a budget of £19.6m whereas the real cost of making the film was less than £100k. Aoife Madden, the film’s producer, pleaded guilty prior to trial and received a significant discount on her sentence. The other four defendants were convicted after trial.
Rachel Barnes was junior counsel for Ms Madden.
