£10M Majorca investment fraudsters sentenced to a total of 18 years

John Hirst and Richard Pollett were sentenced for conspiracy to defraud having operated an investment fraud from the Spanish island of Majorca. John Hirst pleaded guilty and Richard Pollett was convicted after a trial, they were sentenced to 9 and 6.5 years in custody respectively. Mrs Linda Hirst was convicted of money laundering and dishonestly evading a liability. She was sentenced to 2.5 years’ imprisonment.

Rachel Barnes was junior prosecution counsel, instructed by the Serious Fraud Office.
