Edmund Gritt prosecuted serial ‘date’ rapist Brian Witty for a series of sex attacks on 4 women between 1995 and 2011. Witty had met two of the women on a dating website and the other two in bars. In each case, he claimed that sex had been consensual. Following a 4 week trial at Kingston Crown Court in which the 4 victims gave evidence, Witty was convicted by the jury on all counts (3 rapes and 1 sexual assault). Sentence was adjourned.
